Scarborough Is Getting Greener

In the past year,
Scarborough residents recycled 1,994 tons.
To put that in perspective:

🗽
The weight of nearly 9 Statues of Liberty
🌲
An estimated 6,700 trees saved
♻️
181 pounds of recycling per resident

Now there are even more ways to reduce what goes to the landfill.
With curbside composting now available, it's easier than ever to make a difference right from your doorstep.

Trash. Recycling. Composting.
All at the curb.
Starting July 1st.

Why Add Composting to Your Routine?

Reduced Pests & Odors

Food waste causes the smells that attract pests. With weekly composting pickup, keep it out of your trash and enjoy a cleaner home.

Less Waste to Landfills

Divert roughly a third of your household waste from landfills and incinerators. Help Scarborough achieve its sustainability goals.

Lightweight, Leak-Free Trash

Without heavy, wet food scraps, your trash is easier to handle and won't leak all over your bin or driveway.

Compost More Than at Home

We accept meat, dairy, seafood, and cooked foods that backyard composting can't handle safely.

Help Your Garden Grow

Purchase finished compost to enrich your soil and grow healthier plants. Turn your waste into garden gold!
